Our reward is to have a PASTA party sponsored by Olive Garden. This will happen on Thursday, April 16th at 11:45 – so there is no need to pack a lunch J. Pasta, salad, and breadsticks for all!
Congratulations again – you all deserve it!
FIELD TRIPS: Any and all Wilmington balances are due before Track Out.
SPRING CONFERENCES: Conferences for 4th quarter will be student led. You may sign up at the link below for your time slot. This will be a time where your child can share their work and in class experiences with you.
There will be up to 3 families in the classroom at a time. Conferences will be split into different stations to ensure that every family gets personal time with the teacher as well as enough time for their student to instruct. If additional things need to be addressed, you will be directly contacted by the teacher for a separate conference.

What We Are Learning:
Math – This quarter will be mainly focused on measurement and data. Students will work to find the volumes of rectangular prisms. We will gradually build on the idea of volume and work into other types of measurement. Please make sure your child brings home their math journal each night – this is their best resource when it comes to models and conversions. I have also started putting my notes online – they are under the tab titled MATH NOTES
Science – ECOSYSTEMS! As you know we have been collecting 2 liter bottles for quite some time. Students have created their terrariums and will soon be adding land animals such as isopods and crickets. We will also build an aquarium and will be adding real fish, elodea, algae, etc. The purpose of this is to mirror an actual ecosystem. We are focusing on how living things depend on each other. What types of relationships do plants and animals have and how does each benefit from the other and what happens if we remove a specific animal from an ecosystem?
All of our models will be shown during student led conferences J
ELA - We will be aligning our reading and writing with our social studies unit - Civil War. Students will be doing research on a topic and will practice synthesizing information to create a final product. We will work on research strategies during our normal reading time and will work on producing our final product during writing.
Our final product will be a Civil War Alphabet Book. This will be completed in power point or Google Slides. Stay tuned for more information about this! :)
